Autopsie d'un mensonge

J’ai vu hier un documentaire sur jean Claude romand, c’est vraiment à vous couper le souffle. Incroyable 18 ans de mensonge. Il a menti a tous le monde: sa femme, ses beaux parents, ses parents, ses amis, ses enfants, ses voisins, la banque, ... et cela pendant 18 longues années.

Jean-Claude Romand, condamné le 2 juillet 1996 à la
réclusion criminelle à perpétuité a tué en janvier 1993 son épouse, ses deux enfants, ses parents et son chien avant de manquer son suicide en mettant le feu à la maison familiale.
Faux médecin et faux chercheur à l'Organisation mondiale de la Santé (OMS), Romand avait menti pendant 18 ans à ses amis et à toute sa famille. Il avait réussi à extorquer, en plusieurs fois, plus de 2,5 millions de francs à sa belle famille et à ses propres parents. C'est au moment où il allait être découvert par un créancier qu'il a commis ce quintuple crime.

En 1993, la mañana del sábado 9 de enero, Jean-Claude Romand mataba en Francia a su mujer y a sus dos hijos e incendiaba después, con la intención de suicidarse, la casa donde residían. Previamente había acabado también con la vida de sus padres con una escopeta de caza. Después de haber pasado los últimos dieciocho años engañando a su familia y amigos –todos pensaban que era un prestigioso médico de la Organización Mundial de la Salud que trabajaba en Ginebra y ni siquiera había llegado a licenciarse en Medicina- sus mentiras estaban a punto de descubrirse y, antes de que se desmoronara su falso mundo ante los ojos de sus conocidos, decidió asesinar a las personas más próximas a él.

Jean-Claude Romand (born February 11, 1954) is a French impostor and murderer who pretended to be a medical doctor. He killed his family when he was about to be exposed.

The deception began with a simple lie: Romand claimed that he had passed a second-year medical examination that he did not sit. He therefore never qualified as a doctor, a fact unknown to his peers.

Romand fooled his family and friends for 18 years; they thought he was a successful medical professional and researcher in the World Health Organization. He managed to give an impression that he had researched arteriosclerosis and he had contacts with political figures.

In reality, he spent his days wandering and used free information services of the local WHO building. Periodically he left for a supposed work trip but only travelled to Geneva Cointrin international airport and spent a couple of days in a hotel room there, studying a travel guide for a country he was supposed to be in.

On January 9, 1993 Romand, fearing that his family was about to discover the truth, killed his wife, both of his children, his parents and the family dog. He also made an attempt on an ex-lover's life by trying to strangle her with a cord. When she struggled, he released her and drove her home, apologising for trying to harm her. He then set alight his house and took an overdose of barbiturates, intending to burn with his home. He was rescued and police soon figured out the truth.
